Storage Spot Market Splits in Two — Enterprise SSDs +18.64%/wk While Channel SSDs and DDR4 Fall 5–8%

TL;DR

CFM's July 3, 2026 weekly report splits the spot market in two: enterprise SSDs up as much as 18.64% and LPDDR5X up 4–8.5% while channel SSDs and DDR4 fall 3.8–8.5% in the same table.

CFM MemoryMarket's July 3, 2026 weekly report puts the split in its own headline: enterprise SSDs and LPDDR5X up, channel SSDs and DDR4 down. The two directions sit side-by-side in the same table.

The up side: original-vendor enterprise SSDs saw the year's biggest single-week jumps — PCIe 4.0 512GB +18.64% and 1TB +15%, all pulled by server and AI-training orders. Mobile LPDDR5X rose +4% to +8.5% across capacities as phone OEMs stockpile for H2 2026 flagships.

The down side, in the same file: channel SSDs across mainstream SKUs fell -3.8% to -8.5%, and DDR4 UDIMM slid -2% to -5.26%. Channel distributors can't secure vendor supply on new-price terms and have to burn inventory just to keep turnover. The big three tilt capacity toward enterprise 3D NAND, QLC high-density, high-grade DDR5 and HBM. DDR4 8Gb is explicitly tagged as oversupplied.

The indices split too. As of June 30, the NAND composite index sits at 2,987.19, -0.79% w/w; the DRAM composite at 3,999.48, +0.64% w/w. Look at just the headlines and the market seems flat — open it up and there's a fault line between server and consumer.

CFM's one-liner: this round of price hikes "isn't driven by end-market recovery, but by supplier production cuts and order steering." Samsung, SK Hynix, and Micron keep shifting non-AI capacity into HBM and enterprise SSDs, forcing tier-1 contract prices and channel spot prices onto two opposite curves.

Bet won: AI capex keeps pouring in, and enterprise SSDs ride the wave straight to new capacity landing in 2027. Bet lost: falling channel DDR4 and consumer SSDs are already signaling end-demand going cold — the moment AI orders tap the brakes, both curves collide at the same point.
