The first customer for TSMC's 2nm mobile silicon is Google, not Apple. Google has sent August 12 launch invites for the Pixel 11 lineup, every model shipping with the self-designed Tensor G6 fabbed on TSMC 2nm — roughly one month ahead of Apple's iPhone 18 September event.
Apple has been TSMC's first-mover on every new node since the iPhone 6s on 16nm — a ten-generation streak Google has now broken. iPhone 18 arrives in September on the same 2nm process with the A20; the two flagships share a node, but not the narrative.
Tensor G6 is Google's fourth-generation in-house SoC. The first three were fabbed by Samsung LSI. The jump to TSMC comes on two pressures: Samsung couldn't hold yield on the 3nm Tensor G5, and Samsung's 2nm ramp is at least a quarter behind TSMC's.
