Ten nudify tools received 5.7 million social referrals — YouTube led the four-month sample

The Institute for Strategic Dialogue said its tracking of 10 nudify tools recorded more than 5.7 million referrals from social platforms between December 2025 and March 2026. YouTube led within the sample with 1.82 million visits, more than 30% of social referrals. X (Twitter) ranked second with more than 1.3 million.
The study measured social referrals received by the 10 sampled tools. It did not measure all traffic to those sites and cannot be extrapolated to total visits across the nudify ecosystem. ISD said searches for “undress app” or “nudify app” surfaced reviews, promotional videos, links and free-credit codes. Some tools in the sample charged as little as $1 per image.
ISD research director Melanie Smith told WIRED that some YouTube videos directly demonstrated or assisted use of the tools. YouTube said its policies prohibit nonconsensual intimate imagery and apply to external links and synthetic content that realistically simulates nudity. X did not respond to WIRED's request for comment.
ISD's six-month study was supported by the UK AI Safety Institute Challenge Fund and also examined search engines, app stores, payment systems and affiliate networks. The US Take It Down Act requires platforms to remove nonconsensually distributed intimate images within 48 hours of a victim's request. ISD assessed referral pathways; it did not test platform compliance after removal requests.
