Roblox puts game creation on phones — one prompt builds a playable 3D prototype

Roblox unveils mobile AI creator Build; New Zealand public alpha starts July 28 for age-checked users 9+.

Roblox is putting AI game creation directly inside its mobile app for the first time. Announced July 16, Build turns a text prompt into a basic game containing gameplay mechanics, environments, characters, visual style and sound, which users can test, revise, share or publish.

Build was not generally available on announcement day. Roblox will begin a public alpha in New Zealand on July 28 for age-checked users 9 and older. Games that pass safety review can be published globally to age-checked users 16 and older; other regions will follow over the coming months.

The mobile tool shares its backend, models and chat history with Roblox Studio. A creator can start on a phone and continue editing in desktop Studio. Its model mix includes open-source and proprietary Roblox systems. A base version will be free, with paid options for power users.

Roblox is retaining its existing discovery rules. Build games must pass safety checks and enter the same long-term-retention ranking pool as other games. The company put the threshold plainly: “If no one plays it—no one can find it.” Roblox reported 132 million daily active users.
